THE SLACKERS

In the organizer's words:

THE SLACKERS have been described by the New York Times as "the sound of New York". Brooklyn Vegan described them as "a distinct blend of ska, reggae and soul, made a little dirtier by Vic Ruggiero's raspy New York accent".

Since their formation in 1991, THE SLACKERS have released 16 albums, 5 EPs and countless singles. They have played thousands of energetic concerts for their worldwide fan base and continue to be unstoppably prolific.

Their EP "Money is King", released in 2025 on Pirates Press Records, an indictment of the powerful as only THE SLACKERS can write, went straight into the Top 25 of the Submodern Reports album list. Their single "My Last Star" was a tribute to Greg Lee of "Hepcat" and fulfilled the late singer's last creative vision. The 11-track compilation "Lost and Found Vol. 2" had a surprising boogaloo breakout streaming hit with "Diskambobulated".

Their album "Don't Let the Sunlight Fool Ya" from April 2022 was THE SLACKERS' first album to enter the charts and qualified the sextet as a "New Artist" on the Billboard charts - after a career spanning over 30 years!

THE SLACKERS perform regularly at clubs and festivals around the world. They have sold out several curated "Slackfests" in London, Chicago, Austin and Anaheim as well as "5 Days in LA" and their "5 Boro Tour" in New York City. (Source: Bandinfo | Translation: Feierwerk e.V.)
