At a time when the world is constantly drawing borders and shifting realities, this panel opens up a protected space for an artistic journey between worlds. The stage is not just a setting, but a safe space: a place where stories, experiences and perspectives can be shared, felt and reflected upon.

The artists from different artistic practices - dance, theater, performance or text - talk about their work, about spaces in between, connect personal and collective stories, make ruptures and continuities visible and invite us to experience the tensions of our time.

In The Stage as Witness, boundaries are tested, translations between cultures and experiences are possible, and the power of collective reflection can be felt.

Sahar Rahimi is a director, performance artist, author and curator. Born in 1981 in Tehran, she lives and works in Germany. She studied at the Institute for Applied Theater Studies in Giessen and is co-founder of the performance group Monster Truck. The group has realized projects in national and international theaters such as Sophiensäle Berlin, Kampnagel Hamburg, Münchner Kammerspiele and Schauspielhaus Bochum. In 2019, Monster Truck received the Tabori Prize for its complete works. She has worked as a solo director at Theater Basel, Theater im Bahnhof Graz, Schauspielhaus Wien and Münchner Kammerspiele, among others. Together with Mark Schröppel, she is artistic director of the Brecht Festival Augsburg.

Sahar Rezaei is a director, author and former head of drama at the Anhaltisches Theater Dessau. She initially studied engineering at Tehran's Polytechnic University before studying directing at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts. In her works, Rezaei examines the relationship between everyday motifs, space and the body and their relation to current political issues. She works interdisciplinarily as an author, photographer and director. Her projects have been shown at venues including Mousonturm Frankfurt, Divadlo Archa Prague, Schauspiel Hannover, Staatstheater Marburg and Divadlo Flora in Olomouc.

Sina Saberi is a choreographer, performer and cultural manager. Born in 1988 in Tehran, Iran, he lives and works in Germany. After studying literature, language mediation and communication, he switched to the performing arts in 2012. In 2017, he founded Kakeshan, an open space for movement research and choreographic work. Saberi's artistic practice explores the intersection of personal and collective experience and explores dance as an alternative state of being. He has been active in the Iranian dance scene since 2014, first in Iran and now in the diaspora. His work has been shown at numerous international festivals and residencies, including Rencontres Choregraphiques in Paris, Hellerau in Dresden, BIPOD in Beirut, Tanzfabrik Berlin, K3 Tanzplan Hamburg, Charleroi Danse Brussels and euro-scene Leipzig.

Eva Behrendt is a renowned theater critic. Together with the artists, she will discuss their practice and their position in the world, the possibilities of the stage to tell stories, open up spaces and expand perspectives, and how these forms could unfold in particular within the framework of 3 Days to Liberation.
