Stone Gossard reunites Jeff Ament and his old friend Mike with some riffs
McCready borrows drummer Matt Cameron from Soundgarden and records some instrumental demos.

These demos fall into the hands of former Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Jack Irons, who in turn passes the tape on to a friend named Eddie Vedder, a surfer and singer from San Diego without a band.

In one day, Eddie recorded some lyrics to the demos he had received on a "white cassette". This tape - containing the "Momma Son" trilogy - was mailed to Stone and Jeff by E D D I E "a friend in California".

This is how Pearl Jam came into being in the early 90s, together with other bands such as Nirvana, Soundgarden and Alice. In chains, they brought the so-called "Seattle Sound" to life, which was later defined as grunge & alternative rock.

The White Tape reproduces the sounds of the Seattle band with great attention to detail and traces a journey through their greatest successes since the early 90s, in search of the characteristic sound and atmosphere of the American band.
