Reading of the author's novel about the life of Louis Braille

Simple language: Thomas Zwerina is blind. He has written a book about the inventor of Braille. Braille is also known as Braille for the blind. Braille consists of tactile dots. Braille enables blind people to read.

Paris 1821, at the Institut National des Jeunes Aveugles, France's national institution for the blind: it is the "night writing" of a certain Charles Barbier that causes blind Louis Braille to ponder deeply. Fascinated, the boy runs his fingertips over the sublime characters and asks himself one question: is this writing, which was originally conceived as secret writing for the military, the vehicle to freedom? And lo and behold - after some initial difficulties, he arrives at six simple raised dots. He realizes that they are the key to all the knowledge that lies dormant in the books of those who see and for which he thirsts endlessly.

An atmospheric novel about the life of an impressive man whose invention opened up the world to so many: Louis Braille.

Thomas Zwerina

Thomas Zwerina's love of literature and language led him to study English and German at J. L. U. Giessen. Over the years, the busy author and composer has gained stage experience in the fields of literature, theater and music. Thomas Zwerina went completely blind in 2018, but this does not tire him as an artist.
