Throwback: Independence Day

At last, another German success story: Swabian Roland Emmerich is making films in America that couldn't be more American and making the box office ring. It's really worth seeing how spaceships with a diameter of 30 km position themselves over the capitals of the earth and lay them in ruins. In sequences lasting several minutes, you can enjoy the sight of exploding skyscrapers and cars hurled through the air. Good for delicate minds: no blood flows. In the end, it remains unclear how Jeff Goldblum managed to hack into the alien computer network within seconds: Have the aliens, who are light years technically superior to us, not yet got to grips with the problem of data network security either? And why do alien spaceships have so much fuel on board? Brent Spiner, who is well known to all Trekkies, appears in a short guest role as a silly professor, who unfortunately soon falls victim to an alien in an unsightly way.
