What do Antonio Vivaldi's famous "Seasons" have in common with typical Norwegian folk songs? Ragnhild Hemsing, a virtuoso on the violin as well as on the traditional Hardanger fiddle, immerses the popular concertos in a new, exciting sound, original, Nordic fresh and spring-like!

Vivaldi's violin concertos "The Four Seasons" - published 300 years ago in 1725 - are among the most famous and most frequently performed works in music history. What would these popular concertos sound like if they were played on a Norwegian Hardanger fiddle, in the style of the folk music tradition alive in Norway? Ragnhild Hemsing, who is at home in both worlds, dares to build a musical bridge with the Norwegian baroque ensemble Barokkanerne from Trondheim. And this reveals surprising similarities between Venice and Valdres in terms of ornamentation and improvisation, melody and rhythmic drive.
