"The children from the house with the broken roof have vanished into thin air. In the forest. No one has gone there since." The forest seems eerie, where the tracks of three children disappear. But in the house where they used to live, it was obviously not just the roof that was broken.

In the forest, the children find refuge and self-determination. They look after each other and give each other animal names. But then an accident destroys the small community. What remains is "Meise". A psychologist tries to make contact with her - but in order to reach Meise, she has to remove herself from her world.

Deep in the forest tells of a child's escape, of retreat and self-empowerment - but also of a cautious rapprochement. Full of poetic power, the play allows us to experience the children's defencelessness and their search for a place where they are safe. A space is created that is so uncanny and attractive that you want to lose yourself in it and leave the usual order behind.
