A teaspoon of healthy soil contains more microorganisms than there are people on Earth; a healthy soil microbiome is increasingly linked to healthy human gut flora: The soil is not only beneath us, but also within us. 

The soil, as part of a multitude of interwoven (earthly) realities, comes to the forefront especially during global crises—in the struggle for resources, as territory, and as a source of raw materials. At the same time, its ecological dimension becomes apparent when raw materials run dry and devastated, contaminated areas are left behind. 
The focus on the soil raises the question of the foundation upon which a community can grow in the spirit of equal, supportive, and friendly coexistence. The exhibition*Tingling Earth – Shivers Beneath the Earth’s Skin🔥* is an invitation to reflect on our present, on new realities, and on visions for the future oriented toward the common good. 

The exhibition is conceived as an open space for discussion, shared learning, practice, and change. Workshops will take place shortly before the opening and throughout the exhibition period, to which the interested public is invited. 

What potential does art hold for developing practices through which kinships can (re)emerge and their structures become visible? On what ground could an ecological union develop?

Building on the exhibition*Unheimliche Verschiebungen*(Urbane Künste Ruhr), the Künstler*innenhaus Dortmund presents*Tingling Earth – Shivers Beneath the Earth’s Skin🔥*, a group exhibition that can be understood as an exhibition-within-an-exhibition.
