Documentary film about Tom Petty and the band in 1982-1983, which was long thought to have disappeared.
In 2024, the long-lost 16mm film reels of Tom Petty in Cameron Crowe's first film "Heartbreakers Beach Party" were finally found. The classic documentary from the 80s shows Tom Petty and the band in the years 1982-1983, when they finished the album "Long After Dark" (their last with legendary producer Jimmy Iovine), promoted it and went on tour. After its first broadcast on MTV in 1983, the film was deemed too experimental and abruptly removed from the program. In the more than 40 years since, the movie has become folklore among fans, musicians and the entertainment industry - it is even said to have inspired scenes in Spinal Tap. The highly anticipated and fully remastered "Heartbreakers Beach Party" is an entertaining, candid, fast-paced and musically rich excursion with America's greatest rock & roll band, a time capsule of the dawning MTV era and a rare and brilliant insight into Tom Petty's enduring creative genius. This exclusive theatrical release includes 19 minutes of fully remastered, never-before-seen bonus footage from the archive and new commentary from director Cameron Crowe.
