Leïla Slimani, born in Rabat in 1981, is one of the most important and influential literary voices in France. She has received numerous awards, including the Prix Goncourt for her novel "Dann schlaf auch du" (2016) and the Prix Simone de Beauvoir for her commitment to women's freedom in Morocco and worldwide. In her new novel (Luchterhand // Engl. by Amelie Thoma), she tells the story of Mia, a successful writer in Paris who struggles with brain fog and travels to Morocco, the country of her childhood, on the advice of her doctor. There she delves deep into a story that tells of the struggle against social boundaries - and the quest for freedom.
