TRANSIT

In the organizer's words:

TRANSIT

Artistic intervention by Matthias Wohlgenannt:

Matthias Wohlgenannt's intervention deals with the theme of "transitions". Transire (lat.) can be translated as: to pass over, to cross over, to move over - to change from one place to another... But it also means: to pass over to another opinion or to pass over into another state. In any case, transitions involve a change of point of view, a change of perspective.

The change of perspective is a recurring central theme in Matthias Wohlgenannt's works: drawings whose representational appearance dissolves as the viewer approaches. Spatial installations in which membranes made of hundreds of spectacle lenses are installed, multiplying the view and thus allowing many perspectives instead of just one. Objects that question the relationship between place and presence. For the artistic intervention at the BADEHAUS memorial site, new works will be created that deal with the question of such "transitions" in a site-specific way.

Matthias Wohlgenannt studied painting, sculpture and art education in Leipzig and Munich. He lives and works in Waldram and teaches art at Geretsried grammar school.

This year, the BADEHAUS place of remembrance will once again be taking part in the Waldram "Advent windows" at 5.30 pm.
