Frey and Waldinger use original files from the Munich State Archives, which provide information about what happened in Hinterkaifeck, for example, or why the Walter Sedlmayr murder case was more challenging for the investigators than other homicides.
The mixture of original documents and contemporary knowledge is what makes this reading so special.
