Tsirk Dobranotch: Ein Klezmer-Zirkus
In the organizer's words:
As part of the Days of Exile, the Jewish Community of Frankfurt, the Jewish Museum Frankfurt, the ROMANFABRIK, the German Exile Archive 1933–1945 of the German National Library, and Gegen Vergessen – für Demokratie e.V. are bringing the internationally renowned Klezmer circus ensemble Tsirk Dobranotch to Frankfurt.
“Tshemodan” (Yiddish for “suitcase”) combines contemporary circus, Yiddish theater, and live klezmer music into a sensory experience. With acrobatic performances, Yiddish humor, and virtuoso music, the piece tells a story of wandering, exile, and cultural self-assertion—a moving tale of migration and identity brought to life through a poetic visual language of music, movement, and theater. A theatrical experience for all generations that brings the culture of remembrance to life and raises current questions about home and belonging.
A collaboration between: Days of Exile, the Jewish Community, the Jewish Museum, the German Exile Archive 1933–1945 of the German National Library, ROMANFABRIK, and Gegen Vergessen – für Demokratie e.V. With the kind support of: Kulturfonds Frankfurt RheinMain, Speyer’sche Hochschulstiftung Frankfurt, the City of Frankfurt’s Office of Cultural Affairs, the Holger Koppe Foundation, the Körber Foundation, and Hotel Villa Florentina.
