There’s not much left to say about TV Smith—he’s been performing on stages around the world for nearly 50 years. But he’s far from done.
TV Smith’s Catalan band, “The Bored Teenagers,” is traveling all the way from Barcelona to Germany in March 2027 for a short tour.
Although TV Smith is primarily known these days as a solo artist, he still plays a small number of concerts accompanied by a real band.
He first met the musicians in 2003, when bassist BB Quattro invited him to Spain for a few concerts with his punk-pop band “Suzy & Los Quattro.” Under the new name “The Bored Teenagers,” the band accompanied TV during the encores of several concerts; on a day off from the tour, they went into the studio together and recorded the single “What If?/New Church,” which was released in Spain on the “No Future” label.
As self-proclaimed fans of “The Adverts,” the band then worked their way through the entire album “Crossing The Red Sea” and played it in its entirety in 2007 at the renowned “100 Club” in London to celebrate TV Smith’s 50th birthday. Since then, TV Smith and the band have been touring regularly throughout Europe and performing numerous shows on the main stage of the annual “Rebellion Festival” in Blackpool.
In 2022—after thrilling a wildly enthusiastic audience in a venue packed to capacity—they spontaneously headed to a local studio and recorded the songs exactly as they had performed them on stage just moments before: no frills, no pauses, no overdubs—capturing all the energy and excitement of the live show in a single, magnificent take on tape. The resulting album was released under the title “TV Smith & The Bored Teenagers Replay The Adverts” on the “Easy Action” label.
The band’s repertoire now includes all of the “Adverts’” songs as well as many of TV Smith’s later recordings; their live set has evolved into a blend of both—performed with the energy and intensity for which they’ve become famous.
And in March 2027, the time has come: TV Smith and the Bored Teenagers are coming to Germany for 10 days.
