UniCredit ERÖFFNUNGSFEST 2026
In the organizer's words:
On Saturday, September 19, 2026, the Bavarian State Opera will celebrate the start of the new season with its traditional opening festival. The National Theater will open its doors from late morning through the afternoon and has plenty of surprises in store for everyone. The festivities will kick off with a large sing-along concert by the Bavarian State Opera Chorus—together with the UniCredit Opera Chorus and the Freiham Community Chorus—on the steps in front of the main entrance on Max-Joseph-Platz. Afterward, it’s “Open House”: events of all sizes, participatory activities, guided tours, and surprising activities for children and adults alike showcase the diversity of the Bavarian State Opera, the Bavarian State Ballet, and the Bavarian State Orchestra. This behind-the-scenes look will be complemented by music, dance, and opera performances that invite visitors to join in, linger, and watch. In the evening, Gioachino Rossini’s opera*La Cenerentola*will be performed in Jean-Pierre Ponnelle’s popular production. Afterward, jazz music will accompany the audience into the late summer evening. The exact program will be announced at a later date.
