un.learn - Gastspiel von Mathis Dieckmann

In the organizer's words:

"Can you unlearn how to ride a bike? Can we unlearn how to breathe? Can we unlearn our society? Can we unlearn how to love? Can you unlearn pain? Should I? What we unlearn shapes us."

In the performance un.learn, Çağlar Yiğitoğulları and Mathis Dieckmann work in performative experiments against what they know, what they have learned, what they have internalized - against what they believe to be true. Because it is not only what we learn that defines us, but also what we unlearn, what we consciously no longer do, say or think. Unlearning creates space for something new. Only those who unlearn can truly change. But how do you do that? How do you sort out knowledge and what you have learned? Is it even possible to unlearn on purpose? What do we want to unlearn, what should we unlearn?

After "Der Raum des Vergessens", un.learn is Mathis' second work on the topic of forgetting and unlearning and focuses on no longer (wanting to) know and challenging one's own truths.
