Double bassist Joseph Warner and electronic artist Markus Mehr are the formation V_on, which came together in the studio through the affection of one for the music of the other. The album hole in the sea was created over a period of just under six months. An exciting work, an amalgam of avant-garde, drone, prog and soundscapes. Joseph Warner brings his introverted double bass brainwaves to the table, delivering expressive fragments and improvisations. Markus Mehr presses "record". Despite the different compositional approaches, the worlds of the two protagonists intertwine as a matter of course. Warner and Mehr surf on the momentum. Their basis is a love of experimental music and the desire to create something extraordinary. Joseph Warner is an established figure in the European double bass avant-garde, not least because of his highly acclaimed solo releases. Markus Mehr comes diametrically from the opposite direction. He usually creates abstract sound narratives from field recordings and electronics.
