Do I want to be a mother - or not? This question comes up many times in life - and rarely lightly. In her book "Alle kriegen Kinder, ich zweifle", author, podcaster and journalist Verena Kleinmann addresses this question. She herself never wanted to have children. While many of her friends are gradually having children, her worries grow: Will I regret it if I don't have children? Will I be lonelier or unhappier? What social expectations will actually influence my decision? And who will my family actually be if I don't have children?

Verena Kleinmann explores her feelings, does research, conducts dozens of interviews and finds surprising and reassuring answers to one of life's biggest questions.

Spoiler: There are fulfilling lives outside the traditional nuclear family - but there are often no role models. What's more, becoming a mother doesn't just mean fulfillment, but also sacrifice - and the painful experience of the patriarchal structures in which we live.

On this evening, Verena Kleinmann will read from her book and talk to Janina Klabes about the desire to have children and childlessness, social pressure and new ways to shape your own life in a self-determined way.
