Vernissage: and you run to catch up with the sun

In the organizer's words:

Young Art from Berlin Festival—held in conjunction with Berlin Art Week 2026

“And you run to catch up with the sun”is conceived as a temporary interweaving of voices and materials, transformed into a collective reflection on temporality. The artists are united by an interest in processes of perception, time, and movement, while their aesthetic strategies reflect different forms of condensation, presence, and dissolution.

Some artists in the group conceive of time as materiality—as something tangible that acquires a physical texture through archiving. Others, in turn, explore societal rhythms and the restlessness of modernity. The motif of the setting sun stands here for the impossible: the failure to capture light transforms into a poetic stance of resistance against perpetual acceleration.

The exhibition venue—a disused underground parking garage—serves as a spatial metaphor. This “non-place” of transit is transformed into a space for contemplating the layering of time.

The exhibition is curated by Sharleena Rosing.
