Vernissage Sussi Hodel (Schweiz) in Ecco Meineke´s „GaGalerie“/ München

VITA
Sussi Hodel is a Swiss artist originally from Denmark.
She lives in Unterägeri and works in her studio in Neuägeri in the canton of Zug.
After completing a commercial apprenticeship and working in IT, her focus increasingly shifted to art. She has been working as a freelance artist in the fields of fine art, installation and video since 2015.

Her works have been shown in Lisbon, London, Miami and Beijing, among others, and GaGalerie is now organizing her first solo exhibition in Munich.

Statement

"My artistic practice explores the human being as an emotional, multi-layered and searching being. My work is characterized by a palpable empathy for the human condition. I explore moments in which something becomes visible that goes beyond the obvious: inner states, quiet tensions, longing, vulnerability, but also strength, humor and liveliness.
Some figures elude the direct gaze, others appear open and present. I am not only interested in people as portraits, but also in their surroundings, in relationships, on stage and in everyday or staged situations.
A central aspect of my work is deceleration. My pictures invite you to pause and take a closer look. Light and shadow are essential elements of my visual language. They structure the pictorial space, direct the eye and make emotional states tangible. Individual groups of works also reflect memories of Danish landscapes - their vastness, their special light and their quiet melancholy
