We cordially invite you tothe opening reception ofour new exhibition, “Cairo on the Rhine – Cultural Codes,” which opens on July 19, 2026!
Social codes areinvisible rules, values,andmeanings thatare made visible throughsymbols, gestures,orobjectsand shape our perception. Through painting, photography, installation, and performance, artists from both countries explore these cultural codes and present their interpretations in the exhibition “Cairo on the Rhine – Cultural Codings.”
The vernissage begins at3:00 p.m.with anopening ceremony,during which we look forward to inspiring speeches byMarianne Pitzen (Director of the Women’s Museum Bonn/Curator),Amin Hassan(H.E. Consul General of the Egyptian Embassy in Frankfurt),Dr. Ursula Sautter (Vice Chair of UN Women Germany—invited), Yasemin Yilmaz(curator/initiator of WE – Women in Exchange), andShereen Badr(curator/CEO of Artoday Cairo).
Following the event, starting at5 p.m., there will be discussions with female artists. These will address the question, “What do ‘cultural codes’ mean?” and will be moderated byAstrid Lethert (Chair of the Annette Kuhn Foundation for the Promotion of Women’s History Research and Education).
