Have you ever heard an orchestra improvise?
Then it's about time. For over 50 years, one of the most renowned young orchestras in North Rhine-Westphalia has been bringing together the most talented young musicians in the state - and bringing a breath of fresh air to the stage.
The evening begins in an unusual way: with a free orchestral improvisation - a rare moment in which music is created in the here and now.
The first half of the concert focuses on concentrated female power in classical music: Alma Mahler, Dora Pejačević and Malika Kishino show how powerful, diverse and groundbreaking female composers have shaped the sound of orchestral music - then and now.
Everything is characterized by "transformation" - by inner processes, change and new beginnings.
The program concludes with the next great transformation: Brahms' Symphony No. 1 - a monumental journey from doubt to liberation.
