Videoclub - MADE IN CHINAMATHEK - 100 Jahre La Chinoise Videoclub

During the preparations for the Chinese New Year, five punks take up residence in an empty video store in Hellersdorf to discuss trash films, sex and revolutionary ideas. The mere theory and the punks' many debates eventually turn into bitter seriousness when the group wants to write a screenplay to be filmed live during the awards ceremony at the Oberhausen Film Festival. However, the five have very different approaches and the project fails.

The documentary, which was planned by Videoworld and another distribution chain shortly after reunification and was supposed to tell the story of the events in Hellersdorf retrospectively, was never realized, but is now being retold as a musical at the Videoclub am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz. To coincide with the publication of the book 100 Years of La Chinoise, the Berlin Chinamathek will support this event and also present the short film Heavens Gate 2, loosely based on Michael Chinamino.
