Viewing art as a social practice. Max Imdahl and the RuhrKunstMuseen
As part of the exhibition "21 x 21. Die RuhrKunstMuseen auf dem Hügel", experts from the fields of collection and museum as well as mediation and university teaching will discuss the significance of Max Imdahl's theory for the social role of art on June 16, 2025 at 7 pm at Villa Hügel.
The art historian Max Imdahl is an important source of inspiration for the development of the RuhrKunstMuseen and a point of reference for current challenges.
Moderated by Dr. Thorsten Schneider, Dr. Alexia Pooth, Dr. Sarah Sandfort, Prof. Dr. Georg Imdahl and Prof. Dr. Karen an den Berg will talk about the significance of Imdahl's theory, which has been formative for the art discourse of the Federal Republic of Germany since the founding of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum in 1965.
