Who do you want to be today? Create yourself, be everything you want to be and be seen. Playful, tolerant and definitely extravagant, Alex Mugler (New York) and Kendall Mugler (Paris) from the House of Miyake Mugler convey the movement language of voguing. Voguing is a dance style that has its origins in the queer ballroom subculture of New York City, which is largely defined by queer people of color. But living ballroom culture means much more than just dancing together: The voguing groups, organized as houses, become their own family of choice. The ballroom becomes a place of social cohesion and queer representation. Alex and Kendall will also provide insights into this background to voguing in the workshop.
On Thursday, May 9, the stage of the Theater im Pumpenhaus will become a ballroom from 5 to 8 pm. On the day before the performance of like, really cunt , Alex and Kendall Mugler invite all interested people to get to know voguing as a dance style and culture.
