Hamburger Bahnhof and Volkswagen Group welcome the winter with a special weekend of activities for children, young people and families: participatory guided tours through the current presentations, creative workshops directly in the exhibitions, pop-up studios throughout the museum and continuous offers for self-discovery invite young and old to linger, create and marvel on Saturday, November 29 and Sunday, November 30, 2026.

Free admission to Hamburger Bahnhof for children and young people under the age of 18. They can also bring two of their favorite adults to the action weekend free of charge.

Participatory family tours (~60 minutes each)

Guided tours start every hour on Saturday and Sunday from 12 noon to 4 pm at the tour meeting point in the foyer.

The participatory tours invite visitors to actively think along, ask questions and contribute their own perspectives. By means of material samples with Klára Hosnedlová, a mini-portrait exercise on Toyin Ojih Odutola, experiencing scent and color with Delcy Morelos, changing perspectives in the "Infinite Exhibition" and jointly exploring memories and stories in Petrit Halilaj's poetic spatial installations, a lively dialogue is created that deepens and individually enriches the museum experience.

Workshops and studios

The following workshops and studios will be offered continuously on Saturday and Sunday from 12 noon to 5 pm.

Drop-in workshops: Four open creative studios in the exhibitions

In the studios accompanying the current exhibitions in the Rieckhallenatelier, visitors can get creative themselves in a variety of ways. (Meeting point: in the respective exhibition)

• In the Historic Hall with the installation by Klára Hosnedlová, a "photo performance" made of upcycled textiles creates a game with form, material and self-expression - cutting, gluing, stapling, staging and photographing.
• Toyin Ojih Odutola focuses on drawing: expressive mini portraits are created with colored pencils and pencils on tinted paper.
• With her "earth tones",Delcy Morelos encourages visitors to use natural pigments such as umber, sienna, cocoa or cinnamon on wooden postcards and create small, fragrant objects.
• In the "Infinite Exhibition", the "Liegeatelier" invites visitors to view architecture and ceiling works from an unusual perspective and capture them in drawings.

Pop-up studio "Seasons Greetings" (Historic Hall)

You can design individual winter postcards at the interactive writing and drawing station in the museum's Historic Hall. Each card becomes a small work of art that captures your thoughts and the atmosphere of the museum. Send them to friends and family or leave them in the museum for others to respond to. This creates a creative dialog between visitors. Come by, get creative and send a special message to the world!

"Your voice in the museum" (Forum Hamburger Bahnhof)

Interviews with visitors, artists and people connected to the museum are shown on several monitors in the Forum Hamburger Bahnhof. Listen to what they say and then it's your turn! Speak into the camera and answer the same questions - spontaneously, in your own way. Your contribution can become part of the existing interviews - a growing collection of voices, thoughts and moments.

Winter clothes already stowed away - but the shirts and bags look boring? Then come along to the open screen printing studio for the whole family! Bring your own clothes or bags and give them a new look with color, imagination and self-designed motifs. Just come along, join in and print!

MuseumShadowTheater in the Rieckhallenatelier

Inspired by Petrit Halilaj 's exhibition, participants can immerse themselves in the fascinating world of shadow theater: Under the guidance of puppet theater artist Georg Jenisch, they create their own shadow puppets from simple materials and discover the art of their mobility. Through the creative use of different light sources, lively, poetic images and small scenes between abstraction and narrative are created. A sensual and experimental offer that makes it possible to experience the exhibitions in an artistic way.

Ask me Family

You can ask the people with the "Ask me" sign in the exhibitions anything you've always wanted to know that isn't covered in any other guided tour. Simply speak to them - they will answer your questions and accompany you through the rooms if you wish. Whether children or adults: all questions are welcome!

Workshop "I only understand the station" (Nationalgalerie. A collection of the 21st century)

The workshop invites families and children to discover the free accompanying book "Ich versteh nur Bahnhof"in a playful way. With pictures, stories and lots of imagination, they will embark on a journey through the world of art and the museum. Creative suggestions from the book are taken up and put into practice (meeting point: in the collection presentation "Nationalgalerie. A collection of the 21st century").

Bloomberg-App@kids

Hamburger Bahnhof offers a digital children's tour on the Bloomberg Connects app for all those who like to use their cell phones independently. Exciting questions, audio contributions and creative tasks invite you to discover the museum on your own - ideally starting right at the entrance to the museum. An interactive experience for the whole family.

Volkswagen Group ART4ALL Family Lounge

There are new things to discover in the Volkswagen Group Art4All play area in the Historic Hall! The popular building blocks have been given exciting additions for the action days - developed by the Melon Seeds Collective, which has once again come up with something very special. Be curious and come along to try out the new play ideas!
