This intensive course is dedicated to the art of wide, open bowls on the wheel, accompanied by master ceramist Friedrun Fritzsche.
Starting with smaller open bowls, which initially have a narrow base, you will improve with practice and sensitivity. The base will gradually become larger and larger until you have an elegant, flat bowl.
This course is not about speed, but about expanding your skills on the turntable carefully and with precise technique. We will take the time to discuss the results together - both in terms of their formal aesthetics and the turning technique used. This joint analysis helps you to learn directly from practice and to refine your technique in the long term.
In addition to turning, we will also be happy to discuss an individual surface design with you, so that your bowl can become the new highlight on your dining table.
Another part of this course and your ceramic development is the conscious selection: Up to two vessels can be selected per course day for subsequent firing. This limitation often seems restrictive at first, but it intensively trains your ceramic eye, allows you to work on subtleties and focuses on quality rather than quantity.
Prerequisite: For this course you should already have experience on the wheel. A confident centering of 500g clay would be desirable so that you can concentrate fully on shaping.
