Von Weiden perform their music radio play "GRANDMONARCH" on 14.03.2025 at the Theaterlabor in Bielefeld!

Deep in the pandemic, the Bielefeld indie folk band Von Weiden released "GRANDMONARCH", a multimedia project album with a music radio play and beautifully illustrated book. After a few performances in the villages of the Westphalian diaspora, "GRANDMONARCH" will finally find its way onto the big stage at Bielefeld's Theaterlabor on 15.03.2025.

Eddie is at the center of the coming-of-age story "GRANDMONARCH". He is a loner and eccentric who appreciates the fresh air more than being at school. "Happiness is waiting around the next bend!" prophesies old Pilgrim to him one evening and when his melancholy father is sent to a sanatorium a little later, Eddie laces up his hiking boots. Without realizing it, he embarks on a journey full of adventure and danger, abstruse characters and temptations, only to find himself and an ally in the end. VON WEIDEN take the listener along on Eddie's journey, which turns out to be a destination, and tell his story. Stomping polka is juxtaposed with heated western music and a furious folk orchestra repeatedly meets restrained, intimate instrumentation. In blissful drunkenness, the dance floors and bars shake as if there were no tomorrow and foggy sounds waft through morning valleys and forests. Never too cerebral and always with style and attitude. This is complemented by the beautifully illustrated hardcover book and artwork by Marcel Bontempi. "Grandmonarch" is an ode to wandering, in which morbid cemetery ambience merges with Hotzenplotz romance and Westphalian western.
