Lecture and exchange of views
"What the failure of the Weimar Republic tells us about our democracy"
Speaker: Frank Werner
At the ZeitZentrum Zivilcourage, historian and editor-in-chief of ZEIT Geschichte, Frank Werner, will address the failure of the Weimar Republic, but also today's dangers for our democratic system. His lecture, which is part of the program accompanying the exhibition "Wehrhafte Demokratie. The Reichsbanner Black-Red-Gold and the Defense of the Weimar Republic", not only deals with the reasons for the collapse of the first German democracy, but also draws a political arc into the present and highlights urgent topics of current debates, such as: What is the state of democracies in this world, and: What developments are currently emerging and how can we as democrats respond to them?
The lecture will be followed by an open exchange of views on this topic.
The event is a cooperation between the association "Gegen Vergessen- Für Demokratie e.V." and the ZeitZentrum Zivilcourage.
