The lecture "How images are created from noise" is dedicated to the basics of image-generating AI and its use in art.

The artist Anna Rojahn studied photography. Under the name BONNYVUE, she works conceptually and site-specifically - the space for which a work is created is part of the basic prompt; colors, materials and furniture design also flow into the image development.

In this lecture, she vividly explains how diffusion models calculate visual structures from noise step by step and why pattern recognition plays a central role in this process.

It becomes clear that generative AI is based on statistical processes and has neither creativity nor artistic intent. Nevertheless, the technology can be consciously used as a creative tool.

We are still at the beginning of this development: many are currently experimenting with the possibilities of AI. This makes it all the more exciting to see in which directions this young genre will develop in the future.
