Lecture: Why we (as leftists) must support Ukraine

Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2014, a war has been taking place in Europe that met with little interest in Germany for eight years. With the full-scale invasion that began on February 24, 2022, it became obvious that the war against Ukraine follows the program of Russian imperialism and Russian aggression against the West. However, these topics are hardly discussed in German discourse - despite the immense danger posed by Russia and despite German complicity in the suffering of the Ukrainian civilian population. The lecture aims to break down prejudices and trace why and when Russia invaded Ukraine, which wars Russia is (or has been) partly responsible for outside Ukraine, and what anti-fascists can contribute to peace - or at least to supporting Ukraine. One example of this is the anarchist group Radical Aid Force.


Evelyn Deller studies in Münster. She is a Jewish Ukrainian who grew up in Germany. She works as a speaker and political educator on topics such as the "Russian war of aggression" and "anti-Semitism"; she is also deputy chairwoman of the Jewish Student Association NRW.
