As part of the exhibition "150 Years of the Braunschweig Fire Brigade", the Municipal Museum, in cooperation with the Braunschweig Fire Brigade, will be presenting the lecture "From horse to Büssing fire engine - the motorization of the Braunschweig Fire Brigade " on 19 May at 15:00 in the Kleine Dornse in the Old Town Hall

Hans-Ludwig Sämann, former head of the rescue service, and Rainer Schiemenz, member of the watch department, will explain the development of the "motorization" of the Braunschweig professional fire department. They also describe the cooperation between the professional fire department and the commercial vehicle pioneer Henrich Büssing. The Braunschweig fire department had one of the first fire engines with combustion engines. Sämann and Schiemenz are not only connected by their professional work in the fire department; they also share a passion for historic fire engines and have extensive knowledge in the field of maintenance.

The exhibition "150 years of the Braunschweig professional fire department", which offers an exciting look back at 150 years of fire department history in Braunschweig with selected exhibits, can be seen in the museum in the old town hall.
