Wanderung: Durch die Saaleaue nach Bad Dürrenberg
In the organizer's words:
Water, wind & space - and the spirit of the shaman
Hiking excursion: through the Saale floodplain to Bad Dürrenberg
What awaits you
We meet at the main train station in Halle and travel together to Großkorbetha, where the actual tour starts. From the station there, we quickly reach the countryside and hike through the expanse of the flat, secluded floodplain landscape of the Saale. At some point, the first landmarks of Bad Dürrenberg catch our eye - the Borlachturm tower, visible from afar, and the graduation house. After crossing the Saale, we pay a brief visit to both, as well as to the spa gardens, which are still perfectly spruced up for the 2024 State Garden Show. In addition to many other highlights, the park is also home to the shaman's grave (see the special exhibition at the State Museum of Prehistory in Halle). After a varied route through alluvial forests and past historic districts of Bad Dürrenberg, you return to the starting point in Großkorbetha.

About me
Hey, I'm Thomas, a certified hiking guide with the German Hiking Association and a passionate hiker. My heart beats for the wonderful landscapes of my home region. Whether Saale-Unstrut, (southern) Harz or the Lower Saale Valley. From Halle, it often takes less than an hour to reach breathtaking natural and cultural landscapes that are waiting to be discovered. My preference: quiet paths, ancient places of power, the most beautiful views. I would like to share my passion with you here and invite you to come with me - into the breathtaking, mysterious and beautiful nature on your doorstep. I look forward to seeing you there!
Why I love this tour
Above all, I love the sheer boundless expanse of the floodplain landscape paired with plenty of space for discoveries along the way or on the banks (keyword: beaver).
