On the 4th anniversary of Volker “Iron Lungs” Frerichs’ death, Total Maniac will ring out from the abyss into the realms of reality to bring horror and damnation one last time—a deafening echo of Iron Lungs’ eerie dirge. Total Maniac is a DIY project through and through.

The earliest songs were originally written over the course of several years, from 2012 to 2020, when the first recordings were made. All recordings took place in the presence of Volker, who passed away two weeks after the final phrases were recorded, bringing the recording process to a close. The sound differs from the earlier WARHAMMER releases, having evolved from its heavy HELLHAMMER influences into a distinctive sound of its own, while still remaining true to its origins.

The inclusion of covers of CRUDE SS and VELLOCET on the bonus EP underscores not only a sense of solidarity but also the band’s continued influence from the punk scene. *Total Maniac* was mixed in 2022—also with a DIY mindset—by the remaining wARHAMMER members and Frederik Aderholz, and was then sent for professional mastering by Obscured by Evil.

Finally, three years later, “Total Maniac” is set to be released via Ván Records on March 12, 2025! And!!! After more than 20 years of existence, six albums, and countless concerts all over the world, Warhammer is heading toward its final “apocalyptic end.” These final shows will be a cross-section of all of Warhammer’s work and will give all fans one last chance to see Warhammer.
