Watch This Space | Herbert Schuch x BRSO
In the organizer's words:
Herbert Schuch is an exceptional pianist at the center of this evening, who manages to fan out his piano orchestrally, to make it whisper and even sing. As with Debussy, whose contrast-rich sonata touches on the edges of nostalgia and playfulness. In Bartók's Contrasts, inspired by jazz clarinettist Benny Goodman, the old European musical tradition and the New World of America are superimposed. In Jörg Widmann's night piece, as delicate as it is eruptive, you can listen to time slip away. And finally, Shostakovich's Second Piano Trio combines sorrow and pain in its four movements. In the intimate atmosphere of the Watch This Space series, this program with the ensemble sound of the BRSO musicians is a special gem.
