Creativity and networking are two invaluable factors when it comes to overcoming mental health crises. That's why this year's World Mental Health Day on October 10 is focusing on these two concepts in Munich: numerous open studios and writing groups are networking to create a ping-pong between words and images, art and literature.
There is a rich program on World Mental Health Day:
Panel discussions, readings, lectures, concerts and performing arts around the topics of mental health in the workplace and de-stigmatization.
The latter has been and continues to be driven above all by the pioneering work of art and literature, which since the beginning of Romanticism at the latest have tapped into mental states and constitutions outside the norm as a source without which little - murky - water would flow into our culture-hungry eyes, ears and souls.
So this year's design of Zehn-Zehn in Munich also fits in wonderfully with the centenary of the death of Franz Kafka, whose prophetic subtlety - as so often - was not to be had without a heightened sensitivity to the impositions of tradition and everyday life and whose texts have inspired hordes of visual artists.
Those who transform psychological borderline and shadow areas through creative expression not only make a valuable contribution to their own mental health, but also to the mental health of society. These testimonies of inner struggle between light and shadow ultimately lend our world color, contrast and insight.
