Wer ko der ko has been awarded the Innovation Prize for Folk Culture by the City of Munich.

Bavarian dialect has been very fashionable again for some time now. From regional crime novels to the Lower Bavarian hip-hoppers "Dicht und Ergreifend" and the Allgäu detective Kluftinger - everyone is talking about the local dialect and it's all the rage. Just like the poetry slam. So what could be more obvious than combining the two?

A poetry slam in Bavarian only!

As Bavarian self-confidence has grown in recent years, so has the commitment to its own language. What used to be the preserve of the rural population has long since become part of the language used by city dwellers. The poetry slam phenomenon in this country has developed from an underground and youth culture in the 1990s into a cross-generational public success, whose triumphal march seems unstoppable and now regularly fills large halls or theaters and has helped many protagonists of the scene to achieve considerable success.

The concept of a Bavarian dialect slam will always be varied and entertaining, which is guaranteed by the colorful variety of dialects alone.
Each of the 7 administrative districts of Upper Bavaria, Lower Bavaria, Upper Franconia, Middle Franconia, Lower Franconia, Swabia and the Upper Palatinate has its own peculiarities, its own customs and its own dialect colorations. If, for example, a person from Allgäu and a person from Stuttgart speak the same text, both will sound completely different, even though they both come from Swabia. The same applies to the diversity of the slammers. From young dialect rappers to older family chroniclers, from well-known cabaret artists to poetry debutantes - every form of spoken word can be presented on stage at "WER KO DER KO". Whether verse, dialog, observations, rap, short texts or shaking prose - the main thing is that it takes place in Bavarian dialect.

Munich slam pioneer Ko Bylanzky and all-round entertainer Moses Wolff track down the most talented and original Bavarian stage poets in the Bavarian-speaking world and bring them together on the stage of the Hofspielhaus for "WER KO DER KO".

As befits a poetry slam, the audience decides the winner of the evening.
