To what extent are age, gender and common beauty norms intertwined? An intimate search for new ways of confronting ageing.
The interdisciplinary performance UN/AGED is a (self-)critical examination of social images surrounding the age(s) of women. Based on Tania-Maria Sternberg's artistic thesis "VON LINIEN & FALTEN" (2023), the piece explores the interweaving of age, gender and ideals of beauty. The performers are in their thirties - no longer young and not yet old - and ask themselves to what extent ageing is possible beyond loss narratives, male judgment and the promise of beauty in cosmetics. Wrinkles, skin and movement are staged using light, projections and voice - a dance and body collage between beauty criticism and intimacy is created. An invitation to question clichés and develop feminist images of age.
