"Even the future used to be better!"

This quote perfectly describes a time when the majority of young people are worried about the future of the world. Climate, hunger, war, economy - crises everywhere. And the world's politicians don't seem to be much help at the moment. Instead, the old complain about the young generation, who are lazy, spoiled and uneducated. And yet it is the old people who have messed up our world and are now far too comfortable to change anything. So much for the clichés.

However, the quote is not from our time, but from the comedian Karl Valentin and is a good 100 years old. So is it really true that the forecasts have never been worse than they are today? Or does every generation feel as if it is starting out into an uncertain future? The fact is that the vast majority of young people in Germany are worried about the future of the world. In contrast, they often have a rather positive view of their own future. But is that even possible? Can we separate the world and the individual so easily?

The play "What The Future!" asks what ideas we have about the future and what opportunities we have to influence it. Ten young people gather together and look into the future. From there, they look back at themselves as old people. What opportunities lie in the in-between?

Ten young people summon up all their courage. Because it won't be easy, but it will be worth it!
