A young couple, Lula and Sailor, try to escape Lula's domineering mother and travel through the south of the USA. The trip turns into a test of endurance as they find themselves in a horror scenario of violence, dirt, poverty, betrayal and death - the story of a surreal, romantic search for love and freedom and a rebellion against social constraints.
WILD AT HEART, which was awarded the Palme d'Or in Cannes in 1990, is a passionate film by David Lynch that contains all the typical Lynch themes - violence, love and the dark side of the United States - in condensed form. The influence of THE WIZARD OF OZ on Lynch's work is more evident in WILD AT HEART than in his other works.
The references to THE WIZARD OF OZ serve here as a foil to draw a gloomy balance sheet on the state of the USA in the 1990s.

The film will be shown on February 10 in the original version without subtitles and on February 14 at 9 pm (without introduction) in the German dubbed version.
