Tobias Christl is an artfully changeable storyteller, he oscillates between genres. Together with his band he develops music quite naturally from the sum of all personal influences and impressions, no matter from which direction. And the desire to create something of his own from these and to enter new spaces.
WILDERN takes models from greats like Sam Cooke, Nick Drake or George Michael. With audible joy in deconstructing, tearing down and rebuilding, truly new music is created here, rich in rough edges, contrasts, breaks and unexpected twists. An exhilarating journey into free jazz and back, always based on unique and unmistakable arrangements. At the same time, the soul of the songs remains intact, depending on how you look at it, you could say it is exposed. The drive is lurid and does not want to be tamed - poaching!
Tobias Christl was nominated in the category singer national for the Echo Jazz, and with his band WILDERN for the New German Jazz Award and the Bremen Jazz Award.
