There are probably few works in classical music that are so closely associated with winter and Christmas

as Humperdinck's opera Hansel and Gretel. The story of the two children, between poverty and wealth,

darkness and light, good and evil, and the masterful setting by the romantic composer,

are almost emblematic of the winter season and the joy of Christmas. Together with the up-and-coming

soloists Camilla Davies (soprano) and Maria Tarsia (alto), the orchestra leads through the musical highlights of the opera

of the opera, compiled and arranged by Philip Rust. Far less well-known, but no less captivating,

is the second work of the evening, Tchaikovsky's first symphony, called "Winter Dreams". The composer,

known for his romantic and captivating symphonic sound, unites his later world-famous musical signature with an almost

with an almost youthful energy that invites the listener to indulge and dream along
