Winterwerft - Internationales Theaterfestival

Many people know protagon from the summer shipyard on the banks of the Main in Frankfurt. With the Winterwerft, we are also implementing "culture for all" in winter. We organize a special festival format on the cultural grounds of our association for international performing arts:

The Winterwerft is the festival for wild, organic theater. For theater that dares to look fearlessly, curiously and questioningly into the abysses of our time.

For 17 days, we invite artists and groups to live, rehearse, train and research together here at the protagon performance and production venue. Every weekend, as part of the festival program, we also show the results of this theater laboratory and want to exchange ideas with you. We have also invited other regional and international artists to show their work.

The festival will find a magical setting on the Protagon Kultugelände site. During the day, there will be workshops on theater, dance and more that are open to everyone. In the evening, the grounds and our exhibition will open. The yurt, the Babushka Café and the foyer invite you to linger and exchange ideas with concert sounds, discussion formats, warm drinks and treats. Theater and performances take place in the hall, and if we need it, there is also space for dancing. And on Sundays we have a program for the little ones in the afternoon: Imaginative workshops in the cozy yurt and theater for young and old.
