Wissen um 11: Was ist eigentlich ‚Blauer Kohlenstoff‘ ('Blue Carbon') und kann er unser Klima retten?
In the organizer's words:
Lecture by PD Dr. Tim Jennerjahn
The term 'blue carbon', coined over a decade ago, has become a magic word for climate protection in the search for solutions to our climate problem. It has helped coastal ecosystems, which are important natural carbon sinks and absorb a lot of CO2 from the atmosphere, to attract worldwide attention in science, politics and society. But these ecosystems can do much more. In his lecture, Tim Jennerjahn from the Leibniz Center for Tropical Marine Research (ZMT) will explain how these coastal "superheroes" not only contribute to climate protection, but also to biodiversity, coastal protection and the livelihoods of the people who live there.
💡"Wissen um 11", the science matinee in Bremen, in which exciting and current topics from science are presented every Saturday at 11 a.m. in thirty minutes and occasionally filmed and published on our YouTube channel. Free admission.
