WM 2006 in Gelsenkirchen - Talk & Film

Talk and film "Vier Wochen wie im Rausch" shows memories of the 2006 World Cup from Gelsenkirchen

To mark the 20th anniversary of the 2006 World Cup, Jörg Seveneick will be showing his documentary film "Four weeks of frenzy" on three dates - including a panel discussion. Together with Gelsenkirchen journalist and blogger Kirsten Lipka - also known as GelsenMyLove - he will take the audience on a journey back in time to 2006.

The 50-minute film was made by Jörg Seveneick, who is known to many as the stadium announcer for FC Schalke 04 and as a long-standing commentator and journalist on the soccer scene. During the 2006 World Cup, he accompanied the events in Gelsenkirchen for four weeks as a filmmaker: he met visiting fans from all over the world, documented the atmosphere in the city, at the public viewing in the Glückauf Kampfbahn, in the allotment garden club and at the local Portuguese home club. The film shows cheering and crying fans, encounters with inmates at the Gelsenkirchen prison, Mexican fans on the Buerschen market square and English fans at the trotting track. Before and after the movie there will be an informal discussion round.
