The Neuer Markt weekly market has a long tradition. Goods were already being traded on Neuer Markt in the Middle Ages. After a few years on the Glatten Aal, the weekly market has been held on the Neuer Markt again since 2003. With the streetcar stop directly in front of the town hall, it is centrally located and easily accessible for everyone. The direct connection to Kröpeliner Straße makes a visit to the weekly market a nice way to end a shopping spree in the city center. For customers with cars, there are numerous parking garages in the immediate vicinity. A trip to the weekly market is also a good idea for a lunch break or a snack. Bratwurst or fish sandwiches always taste good. Market hours are Tuesday to Friday from 08:00 - 17:00 and on Saturday from 08:00 - 13:00. There is no market on Mondays! The traders' range comprises 90% fresh produce with seasonally changing offers. There is fruit and vegetables, baked goods, cheese, meat and sausage products, fresh fish, smoked fish, salads and marinades, fresh poultry and game meat, delicatessen products, olives, flowers and plants. You can also buy textiles, small everyday items and home accessories. Organic products from Biofrisch Nordost from Teschendorf are available on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Every Saturday from March/April to September/October (depending on the weather), there is a market for home-grown produce. Fresh seasonal products from farmers and allotment gardeners around the corner are available.
