Wohnzimmer-Konzert: Nala Tesslof

Nala Tessloff is a singer/songwriter, composer, visual and performance artist. In March 2024, she released her dark, soulful solo album debut Daydream on the Berlin label XJAZZ Music.

After a first release concert at Westwerk Hamburg, the album went straight to the big
festival stages, including the legendary Fusion and At.tension. In late summer, Nala Tessloff played a South African tour together with fellow musician and producer Helge Hasselberg, where she was invited to perform at Music Imbizo in Durban and Selective Live in Cape Town, among others. This also resulted in a live collaboration with the spoken words artist Blaze from Cape Town.

Collaborations with international artists

Nala has already worked as a singer and songwriter with international artists such as Spencer Brown ("Nightwalk", 2018 on Anjunabeats) and Innellea, ("Read Thread" 2020 on Diynamic). In summer 2021, she released the EP "Where The Water Meets The Sky" together with New York Times bestselling author Ian Urbina. After opening Fashion Week in Berlin with a 30-piece orchestra in 2019, Nala founded the Unspoken Consort with five early music musicians to stage large-scale musical performances. In July 2023, she performed as a singer with the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra at the Museum of Hamburg History.

Reflections on the omnipresence of violence

The songs produced together with Helge Hasselberg reflect influences from her work in film music, high culture and performance art. In her work she reflects on the omnipresence of violence, - which we are exposed to and
that we exert on others every day, consciously and unconsciously. The starting point for her texts are always her personal psychological studies, from which she refers to more general aspects of interpersonal relationships.

What does a lullaby for a lifelong dream sound like?

How does it feel to rush parallel to the course of the world and still lose touch in your isolation? What would it be like to stop living up to your own expectations and simply throw them away? Nala Tessloff asks herself these questions in her songs and finds only one answer in her inner conflict: there is also beauty and truth in giving up, in failure.
