In the organizer's words:
Wolfgang Welt hears the all-altering question over the phone: "Wouldn't you like to write for us?" He was referring to Suhrkamp Verlag, a place of longing for the young music journalist. The novel is supposed to be radically subjective and authentic, but in the summer of 1981 there is a lack of peace, money and the first sentence. Above all, Welt's psyche suffers from the ever-increasing pace of life - depressive and manic states alternate.
To mark the 10th anniversary of his death, Jasmin-Nevin Varul will read from mostly unpublished Welt letters with live commentary. The estate documents illustrate the most intense years in the life of the "greatest storyteller of the Ruhr region".
Reading: Jasmin-Nevin Varul
Commentary: Martin Willems, B.A.
