Women in Translation Month: Lesung & Gespräch mit Literaturübersetzerinnen

August is “Women in Translation Month”! To celebrate, four female translators are stepping out of their quiet little corners to talk with you about the art of translation.

Featuring Marie Alpermann, Marie-Theres Cermann, Lucia Engelbrecht, and Martina Lisa (moderated by Tünde Malomvölgyi). We’ll hear texts in Serbo-Croatian, Hebrew, Slovak, Czech, and maybe even Hungarian.

In August, we’re celebrating “Women in Translation Month”! We want to make female authors and translators more visible—and audible! To mark the occasion, we’ve invited four translators from different languages, based in Leipzig and Halle—Marie Alpermann, Marie-Theres Cermann, Lucia Engelbrecht, and Martina Lisa (moderator: Tünde Malomvölgyi) — who will read excerpts from their translations in various languages ~ namely, Serbo-Croatian, Czech, Slovak, Hebrew, and maybe even a bit of Hungarian ~, and tell us about the everyday challenges and joys of being a translator.
