Concert Presented by Punkfilmfest Berlin and handiclapped!

WONK UNIT is one of the most versatile and diverse bands London has to offer at the moment. They were formed in 2005 by Alex after the break up of punk band The Flying Medallions.
Punk in England was so dead and boring at the time. But with the chance meeting of Alex and two very talented musicians, drummer Mez Clough and guitarist Gavin Kinch, whose way of playing suddenly made Alex's songs sound super fresh, there was a new punk rock hope.
A unique band in Europe with its own sound, its own humor, its own festival and a deeply rooted DIY background. As lead singer, poet, skater, stage performer and creative motor, Alex Brindle Johnson is the heart of the band, which quite a few people claim is currently the most exciting thing to be seen on Europe's punk rock stages.

Jacke wie Hose is the pure expression and trash of people with disabilities. Nomen est omen - no matter what we play, we try to rock, because musical perfection only suits us to a limited extent. In this project, we have dedicated ourselves to the fun of musical communication with only the most necessary structure. Boundaries become blurred, relationships normalize, relationships are redefined - music is created. Jacket like pants! - Pure cosmopolitanism ...

We've been around since 2005, when the band emerged from a music project involving staff and residents at St. Norbert House in Michendorf. Over the years, the current line-up has come together and formed a permanent group. The members are Pascale (very committed vocals), Marco (bass and vocals), Ilhami (keyboard), Micha (drums), Chris (drums) Marco (guitar), Johannes (guitar). We only make our own music with - as far as you can understand - German lyrics.

We have already played at various venues such as Blackfleck, Archiv in Potsdam, Rock am Wasserturm in Potsdam, Fête de la musique in Berlin, Fabik in Potsdam, the film festival in Garvensdorf and Gegen den Strom in Michendorf. Our tour to Bavaria is also a highlight that we and our audience will not soon forget. We also like to perform at Handiclapped events in Berlin.

Handiclapped is doing a concert with the Schokoladen in Berlin Mitte, a club in a former chocolate factory, where there is a lot of live music, but also parties and readings, with a ramp at the entrance and a barrier-free toilet in the courtyard.

There will be two bands playing on Thursday, May 28, 2026: the British band Wonk Unit and the band Jacke wie Hose from Potsdam.

Attention: This concert costs 15,20 Euro entrance fee and will probably be sold out.

Wonk Unit come from London, in England.they make fresh DIY punk rock.DIY means "do it yourself".you speak it: "Du it jurself".that means: self-made, without outside help.Wonk Unit probably don't want to pretend, just be themselves. Jacke wie Hose is also punk! from Potsdam and well known at Handiclapped. they make their own music with German lyrics - if you know what they mean! loud, brute, rousing!
